Project Roadster: Typical Scene Kid

In another bid justify not buying a sensible car, I needed to up the luggage capacity of the Roadster; with having to carry photo gear, parts, camping stuff and, in the not too distant future, flat pack furniture I thought I better get a rack.   I had toyed around with making something, but before I fired up the mig I came across these Hanirack inflatable roof racks.  Yeah, I know, it’s not as cool as a Thule, but for the Roadster it’s ideal.  Because it’s inflatable, it spreads the load over the whole roof and it rolls up  neatly into a little bag which I can stow in the boot!

Yep, I’ve gone practicality mad….

Plus racks always look cool….

Ultimate Dubs 14-03-10 Part #1

For me, UD pretty much kicks of the shows for 2010 and in quite some style.  Indoor shows are always nice at this time of year when the weather is as reliable as, um, an old Volkswagen and it’s certainly a gentle ease-in to the show scene after a winter of hibernation.  The organisers run a strict door policy: only the sickest and most high-end cars get in, so you are always sure to see some awesome motors and some fresh metal; usually with the paint still wet from a race to meet the deadline for this weekend!

I’ll kick off with pretty much my car of the show: G-Werks fresh, 9-day built MK4 R32:

Bently paint x Lambo wheels x Porsche brakes x Air ride

Ok, I’m not on commission so we’ll move on…

MK1 Perfection. TDi power.

I was so into this Beetle, especially the Porsche seats (in MK5 GTi trim) and cage; it just worked so well!

Stay tuned for more pics soon…

Motor Mania es ist sehr gut!

I got a random email the other day from a guy called Max telling me about his blog Motor-Mania. His aim is to document and push the tuning scene in Germany and generally showcase cool cars from Europe.

I love what the guy is doing and his passion for retro  and modified metal so keep an eye on Motor Mania for more cool Euros than you can shake a lowering stick at………………
