Project Roadster; HID Install

As winter draws in and it gets darker earlier, I wanted to do something about the OEM candles Mazda saw fit to spec-out the front of the roadster with. A last minute bid later and a shiny HID conversion kit was on its way to my door.

First job was to lay everything out and see what I had. I had to change one of the connectors and make up some looms to connect the Mazda headlamp connector to the kit loom.

The next problem was the new bulbs did not fit into my H4 headlamps. I found an old set of H4 bulbs, removed the glass bulb and used the base plates as adaptors.

I fixed the ballasts under the headlamps and ran the wiring loom making sure I had enough slack to pop the lights.

Next job was to fire it up. Well, one for comparison:

They look loads better with my LED sides. Drivers side installed and ready to go:

Not the most comprehensive write-up, but you get the idea! Now it’s time for some more late night touge action!

    Hi,
I just wonder if the ballasts actually could lie there without touching the headlight set while the lamps are down?

I’m going to do the same conversion this weekend. Just want to get more reference from the people have really done it.

    Thanks! and BTW, nice NA6!
