Project Roadster; HID Install

As winter draws in and it gets darker earlier, I wanted to do something about the OEM candles Mazda saw fit to spec-out the front of the roadster with. A last minute bid later and a shiny HID conversion kit was on its way to my door.

First job was to lay everything out and see what I had. I had to change one of the connectors and make up some looms to connect the Mazda headlamp connector to the kit loom.

The next problem was the new bulbs did not fit into my H4 headlamps. I found an old set of H4 bulbs, removed the glass bulb and used the base plates as adaptors.

I fixed the ballasts under the headlamps and ran the wiring loom making sure I had enough slack to pop the lights.

Next job was to fire it up. Well, one for comparison:

They look loads better with my LED sides. Drivers side installed and ready to go:

Not the most comprehensive write-up, but you get the idea! Now it’s time for some more late night touge action!

JCCS, Irvine, California

I’m not even going to attempt to cover this awesome event for two reasons: It’s all over the net and mainly, because I wasn’t there!

What I am going to do, is point you in the direction of JNC who have got an awesome report up and some killer pics! Check it out HERE

This KP60 blew me away! If it were mine, it would be a lower and running stretched rubber but judging by the wide AO32s it looks like the owner uses this as a serious grip  machine.

It’s packing serious powers too in the form of a 20v lump

7Tune: Daikoku Futo – Kaidou Style Gallery

Check out this amazing gallery on 7Tune. Great shots too; I love long exposure night shots.

Sitting at my laptop in the UK it’s hard to imagine this happening in real life. I think I need to get over to Japan!

Practicality…

This has it.

This would be ideal for throwing my BMX in and I would look like a metal bar wielding territorial Japanese gang member on the way to the park. Full-house win then.

3am Touge: A537 “the Cat and Fiddle”

I spent yesterday in the Peak District catching up with some of my old friends which was cool. On my way home (it was pretty late buy now) I took a bit of a spin over the infamous “Cat and Fiddle”. What a road. This road is notorious for killing people, lots of people: Read more HERE

With a reputation like that it was always going be amazing. Especially in the early hours of the morning with zero traffic. The Mazda loved it, though the frame did hit the deck a couple of times and my sump guard is starting to look a little worse for wear!

No pics unfortunatley as my 400D packed up and won’t be back for 4-6 weeks!

Hopefully I can get a few of my buddies together and spend a night up there before the weather gets to bad.

Map is from Google.
