One Year: Speedhunters Volume One

I came home from a week away to a sizeable parcel…I’d not ordered anything…wasn’t expecting anything…and it was addressed from EA..?

Oh, yeah!  Without so much as a note or warning the Awesome Chaps at the big S-H had sent me out a little (BIG) parcel including a load of stickers, keyring and The Photo book of the year!

I’m guessing people with feature cars/ supported them at shows all got a copy!  It’s beautifully put together, full of stunning images and a nice way to spend a couple of hours with a coffee. I would say get a copy, but looking at the store I think they’ve all gone; make sure volume two is on your shopping list for next year though.

Project KP30: Speedhunters Shoot – Behind The Scenes

You may have heard of a little website that goes by the name of Speedhunters? Well, I’ve been showing my support by having them in my blog roll for a while now and a couple of weeks back I got a call from Bryn (Musselwhite – Speedhunter’s newest features man and my long-term media crush) saying they wanted to feature the KP: AWESOME.

After we cancelled once due to the rain, there was only one other date we could do it…and guess what?  It was raining, though just the term “raining” doesn’t really do justice to what felt like all the water in the world being thrown at a quiet corner of the Cotswolds where the shoot was taking place.   The KP has only be wet about 4 or 5 times in 7 years, so I held back the tears and went for it.  Luckily when I arrived there was the full Speedhunters service:  Car wash and coffee.

Despite the freezing deluge it was an awesome day and, as always, a laugh with Bryn.  Here’s a few “behind the scenes” pics.  Bryn’s barns hold a number of cool cars, parts and memorabilia – worth a SH feature on their own!

Thanks again to Bryn and Speedhunters!  Check out the full feature here:

P.S If you’re a new visitor to Racer86.com don’t forget we’re on FACEBOOK and TWITTER - Social overload?  Probably, but all the cool kids are doing it!

TAS 2009

Well this blog has been running for a year now and one of my first posts was TAS ’08! The car of the show for me then was the Rocky Auto KPGC10 and, reassuringly,  my car of 2009 is another Retro car. With all the classic touches that make Japanese cars so right; Stance, fitment and clean simple bodywork this AE70 from the G-Works stand was killin’ it!

Perfect paint and Wats in 14×9″ front and 14×9.5″  rear, running 195/45s all round filling out  those perfectly rolled arches.

I could look at these pics for days!

For the best TAS coverage on the net check out Speedhunters. Props to Mike Garrett for the awesome pics too!

P.S. Mike, if you read this it’s good to see you posting again on Auto Otaku!
