Project KP30:One Last Blast

before winter…

See you in Spring…

The KP survives another year and is safely tucked up at my Folk’s house for the winter.   Not exactly sure where this summer has gone, but another tax disk has expired and a I feel like I never really got out in the old girl much.  I’ve got a few ideas for stuff to do over winter but for now the Herald is coming up to mine for some (outlaw) work over the next few months. 2013: Less rain please!

Garage Life – Part #3

OK, so this has taken me ages to get together, but I can finally say my garage is fin…

alright, so not quite yet.  I’ve made some pretty good progress though:  The lighting is in and I’ve wired in some extra plug sockets; two major steps in making this place more than just a storage box.

My bench is also in and I finally got the door painted

Floor still looks clean?  Yep, that’s because I had to re-paint after a water leak!

Right, time to get on the spanners!

Birthday Spanners!

Massive thanks to my family who all chipped in to deck out my garage with a new tool chest full of tools!   Time for a new project?

Project KP30: Fire-ring on all cylinders?

No.  Well, not on number 2 anyway.  After changing the oil I ran the old girl up and out came a load of white smoke.  A compression test confirmed the worst, though it was making full compression, it was just leaking away on 1 and 2.  I know, I was gutted.  Luckily it did it on my drive and not at Santa Pod.

By some total fluke I was able to get gaskets on a Saturday – Mega Spares came through big-time on that one.  So it was a full-on day and now it’s running again!

Now I’ve just get to get some miles on it before the Japanese Performance shoot on Friday and more importantly the Retro Rides Gathering on the 8th!

Garage Life – Part #2

I’ve managed to get some more work done on the garage over the last couple of weekends; mainly painting!

I started off stripping out all of the old shelves and bench.

Then I tightened and cut down the studs so I don’t catch myself, or worse, the car on them.

Then it was a case of fitting a new window and paint, paint, and more paint: Walls – rafters and finally floor!

It looks pretty good now and is super clean (you can even slide on the floor in socks – yes, yes I did).

Next:  Wiring, lights and plug sockets, then bench!

Garage Life – Part #1

Things have been a bit quiet over at Racer86.com recently, mainly because of this:

Yes, after failing to act my age or do anything with my life that qualifies me as a “real person” I’ve bought my own piece of England.  Now none of this is important; bricks are bricks.  What is important is the 20x9ft garage and room for 4 cars!!!  Yes I now own my own garage!

Now it needs a little cosmetic tidying (I’ve already bought paint and floor sealant) but apart from that it’s pretty much ready to go!  Progress will be slow over the next couple of weeks as I am working on the house before I can move in to it (hence internet will also be limited until I get hooked up) but it’s already got me wanting another project….I just need a lottery win to fund it now!
