B-Series Dreaming
Now I’m not one of these people who is mad on power. Horse power for horse powers sake does not do it for me. I like a balanced car that can be pushed on back roads and has enough grip to be fun, but no so much you can’t light up the wheels with a little clutch kick and flick of the wheel.
The Roadster currently ticks all of the above boxes with a tiny 120bhp doing its best to wear out my 175 tyres.
That said, if I was building my ultimate Roadster, and was staying B-series powered, this would do nicely!

Well, that or a Rotary!

I found this cool site whilst trawling the internet for awesome stuff. It’s stuffed full of more Nissan/ Datsun goodness than you could shake an L-Series Manifold at!

RotorStock 6 11-07-09
This weekend was the 6th Rotorstock event held at Santa Pod. I didn’t attend the show, but was there in the evening as I was camping over to attend Retro Show the day after. I did however make it in time to have a last walk around the pits just before everyone packed up. Here are a few of the pics I got before the camping-carnage began!

For more info check out the Rotorstock 6 site.
Yes, more wagons rolling! The Chevette is featured in this months RC mag. OK, so I guess it is a bit of a cheat as I shot the pics and wrote the feature, but any sort of media coverage for something you have built is awesome. I still get super stoked when I see a little 3x5cm pics of one of my cars in a mag, so a feature is a pretty big deal. Add to that the fact I got to write and shoot it then you can imagine how pleased I was when I opened it up!

I also got a mention in the Old Skool Mania show report and some of my pics are used in the Bromley Pageant report.

Did I mention how stoked I was?
In other news, if you have found your way to my blog from the link in the mag then hello! If you have any comments or suggestions hit me up at Racer_86@hotmail.com; It would be good to hear from you!
As always, check out Retro Cars mag online and even better than that, go buy a copy!
Since I bought these carbs nearly 3 years ago they have been brilliant. All the talk you hear of them going out of tune, being horrible to drive and uneconomical hasn’t come true for me; It might be luck, but I’m putting it down to quality Dellorto engineering.
Time had started to take it’s toll and I noticed a small amount of petrol leaking from the pump jets . Idecided a clean and re-fresh was the best course of action so ordered a kit and pulled them off the car.
Rebuild Kit and instructions…

That’s a lot of gaskets and seals!
I never fail to be amazed how intricate these things are; Just look at all the parts!

Before Shot

First job was to give them a bath in solvent to clean all the petrol and dirt off. I didn’t want any grit getting inside them!

Without showing 350 pics of dirty old gaskets this should give you an idea of Old Vs. New!

The filters on the fuel intakes were pretty bad too:

New gaskets installed:

Cleaned and bolted back together:

Hopefully that will keep them running sweet for another 3 years, or, at least stop me burning the car to the ground for a little while!
